About Choghadiya

Choghadiya splits day and night into 8 auspicious/inauspicious periods each — helping you pick the right time for travel, starting new work, or any important task.

Amrit, Shubh, Labh and Char are considered good; Udveg, Kaal and Rog are inauspicious and best avoided for important work.

The order changes every day — Monday's sequence differs from Tuesday's — so a fresh calculation is needed daily, which this tool does from your city's real sunrise and sunset.

Most Auspicious Good Inauspicious

Rahu Kalam, Gulika Kalam and Yamaganda should be avoided even during an otherwise auspicious period.

Choghadiya Today — Din & Raat Ka Choghadiya

Choghadiya is a simple, widely-used muhurat system that divides the daytime (sunrise to sunset) into 8 equal periods and the nighttime (sunset to next sunrise) into 8 equal periods. Each period is ruled by one of the 7 classical Choghadiya — Amrit, Shubh, Labh, Char, Rog, Kaal and Udveg — cycling in an order that changes with the day of the week.

Unlike a full birth-chart reading, Choghadiya needs no birth details — just today's date and your city. It's popularly used across North India, especially Gujarat and Rajasthan, to pick a good time (shubh muhurat) for travel, starting a new venture, opening a shop, or other everyday tasks, without needing to consult an astrologer for every small decision.

This calculator computes real sunrise and sunset for your selected city using precise astronomical calculations, then splits day and night into their 8 periods accordingly — so the timings shift correctly with the seasons and with your location, rather than using a fixed generic time.
