How is my gemstone found from my date of birth? +
In Vedic astrology your stone comes from your Lagna (ascendant), which needs your birth time and place as well as the date. The Lagna lord gives your Life Stone, the 5th lord your Punya Stone, and the 9th lord your Bhagya Stone. A birth-month stone like 'garnet for January' is a Western custom and has nothing to do with your chart.
What is the difference between Life, Punya and Bhagya stones? +
The Life Stone belongs to your Lagna lord and supports health and the direction of your life. The Punya Stone belongs to the 5th lord: intelligence, children and past-life merit. The Bhagya Stone belongs to the 9th lord: luck, father and dharma. Most astrologers start with the Life Stone.
Can I wear two gemstones together? +
Yes, if their planets are friendly. Red Coral and Pearl, for example, go together because Mars and the Moon are friends. Ruby with Blue Sapphire is a classic clash, since the Sun and Saturn are enemies. The full report checks every pair for you.
Why does my porutham report show a different lucky stone? +
That one is the janma nakshatra ratnam, the stone of your birth star's lord. It's a traditional Kerala custom and we list it too. For a stone you'll wear every day, astrologers go by the Lagna, which is what this finder uses.
Which gemstones should I avoid? +
Stones of planets that rule difficult houses for your Lagna: the 3rd, 6th, 8th, 11th and 12th. For a Vrischikam Lagna that means Emerald, Diamond and Blue Sapphire. The report lists yours with the reason for each.
Do I need to purify the gemstone before wearing it? +
Traditionally, yes. Soak the ring overnight in raw milk or panchagavyam, wash it in tender coconut water, chant the planet's mantra 108 times and wear it on the planet's day in the morning. The report gives the day, finger, metal and mantra for each of your stones.
